    In today's marketing world, most copywriters do 1 of 3 things:

    1) They smash you over the head with benefits
    2) They use "hype" to make outrageous promises that are never kept
    3) They swipe an old sales letter, change a few sentences, then boom... it's done

    Don't get me wrong...

    You must convey benefits in your copy. Someone must get value in what you're offering. Simply stating benefits is a start -- by itself it's not enough.

    Using "hype" was the standard in copywriting for decades. It just doesn't have the same effect. It's like a TV show that was edgy 25 years ago. When you watch it now, it doesn't have the same effect.

    Hype is the reason so many sales letter look identical. Many copywriters are just "swiping" from other letters -- even copyting exact sentences. Buyers have wised up to this gimmick -- and they aren't buying it anymore.

    I make my letters more personal -- rather than tricking readers. I've always felt fooling people to get a sale is unethical and harmful to your business. Plus, honest copy generates a higher response, for it goes deeply into your buyers emotions.

    How Do I Make My Copy Stand Out?
